Founder, Creative Director
Jackie is the founder and creative director of madre natura, an Australian fashion house grounded in refined craftsmanship, quiet elegance and modern nostalgia. Her work is shaped by a lifelong sensitivity to contrast between structure and softness, masculinity and femininity, ritual and ease, and how these opposing forces can exist in harmony through clothing. She grew up between two very different expressions of Australian life. On one side, her Italian family, where dressing was intentional, elegant and deeply considered, shaped by ritual and care. On the other, a coastal Australian environment defined by ease, informality and a relaxed approach to clothing. That duality continues to inform the language of her work today. From a young age, she was drawn to silhouette and construction, and to how clothing could shift presence, feeling and identity. That instinct became the foundation of her design practice.
madre natura was founded during the pandemic, a period that created space for reflection on the fashion industry and its pace. It became a turning point, reinforcing the need for clothing that is made with intention, care and longevity. Her entry into conscious practice began in Sydney at Vinnies, where the scale of textile waste reframed her understanding of value and consumption. While studying at The Fashion Design Studio and working, she developed a focus not only on design, but on how garments are made, worn and kept. Today, her work sits at the intersection of design and responsibility, where sculptural silhouettes and architectural tailoring meet a slower, more considered approach to creation. Longevity is central to this philosophy, with garments designed to be worn, cared for and kept over time rather than consumed quickly.
For her, fashion has always been personal, from sewing with her mother, to collecting vintage pieces, to observing the skill of makers and artisans. These experiences shaped an understanding of clothing as something intimate, constructed and enduring. Her practice continues to explore reconstruction, taking inherited ideas of femininity, tailoring and utility and reworking them into contemporary form through structure, restraint and emotional clarity.
This is reflected in madre natura’s recognition within the Australian fashion landscape, including being a finalist in the National Designer Awards 2023, 2025 and 2026, receiving an Honourable Mention for Sustainability in 2023, and being named a finalist for the ELLE Next Gen Designer Awards in 2025.
