Meet our Founder Jackie Galleghan
Founder, Creative Director & Head of Sustainability at madre natura
I’m also a mother, and like many women, I wear many hats creative, carer, change-maker. Becoming a mother deepened my sense of responsibility and sharpened my purpose. I wanted to create a business that not only aligned with my values but contributed to a better future for the next generation.
madre natura was born during the pandemic, a time that made space for reflection. As the world paused, so did our habits and it became clear: fashion needed a reset.
My journey into sustainable fashion began at Vinnies in Sydney, where I saw firsthand the overwhelming volume of clothing waste. It left a lasting impression. While studying at The Fashion Design Studio and working at Shona Joy, I realised my dream wasn’t just to design beautiful garments but to use fashion as a vehicle for positive change At madre natura, we challenge fast fashion’s toxic legacy. Our pieces are designed with longevity in mind and supported by a circular model that encourages care, repair and regeneration. Fashion has always been a part of my life from sewing with my mum, to collecting vintage, to admiring the skill of makers and artisans. Now, it’s my mission to create garments that are both beautiful and meaningful for you, for the makers, and for the planet.
