Meet Fay, the celebrated multidisciplinary wellness queen. Fay believes that slow fashion is today's only modern choice.

Tell us your story about how you become the amazing Apothecary Naturopath & Beauty therapist you are today? There are so many factors that lead me to this point in my career but it’s mostly the product of family influence and my own health experiences. My mum has a background in beauty therapy and aromatherapy. My parents also have their own successful business. Their strong work ethic inspired me growing up to want to create a business of my own. Treatment with herbal medicine for anxiety and skin problems in my early 20s introduced me to the world of Naturopathy. From there, I wanted to carve out a space that was dedicated to naturopathic skin health. In the end, it was borne out of the desire to create a place I would like to visit for all my skin and wellness needs!

What is your routine for your own self-love? How do you implement this into your daily life? I have a surprisingly simple skincare routine, but I really value the process of cleansing and moisturising in the evening. It signifies the end of the workday and helps me unwind. If I have any time to spare, you’ll find me at the beach with a good book.

How is your relationship with the planet/nature? My training as a herbalist has given me a deep respect and appreciation for the power of plants. I’m in awe of the medicinal value of herbs daily in my clinic. I’m lucky to live near some lovely parks so I spend an hour every morning before work going for a walk with my dog Maya. I leave my phone at home and really try to immerse myself in my surroundings. It’s a great way to start the day!

Tell us about your family history? My dad is Greek and so we spent a lot of time with his side of the family growing up. The beautiful food and emphasis on the importance of family is something I appreciate more with age. I’ve been fortunate enough to visit Symi, the small island my family is from, a few times and it’s heaven on earth.

What is your favourite madre natura garment and why? The Grevillia Stripe Tee is a favourite of mine because I can dress is up with a skirt and strappy sandals or wear it over my bikini to the beach. I love pieces that are versatile and can be worn any time of year.

How do you see the Australian Fashion industry becoming more sustainable in the future? As with the movement towards plant-based personal care products, I see slow fashion as the modern choice. We are at a point in time where we must start thinking about supply chains, production and packaging more closely. It’s about purchasing and consuming less but better quality clothes, food and skincare. Unisex, well made, classic and timeless designs are the way forward. I love that slow fashion brands such as madre natura are thinking about every detail of their clothing’s lifespan from choosing a fabric that won’t contaminate waterways to having items sewn locally to re-purposing offcuts.

We adore your vintage style what is your favourite fashion era and why? I love fashion but I’m not sure I could choose just one era. My style has always been a mix of modern and vintage and I tend to dress according to my mood. I feel most comfortable in a nice shirt, vintage denim and sandals.
